What makes Autumn Journey Hospice special?

Autumn Journey Hospice isn’t the only choice for families seeking hospice services. There are a number of fine organizations offering this type of care. However, we believe that we offer a number of unique benefits to our patients, their caregivers and families.

So, what makes us different?

We offer these thoughts for your consideration.

Community

We are a locally owned and operated hospice.  We serve the North Texas counties of Collin, Dallas and Denton. We have a unique knowledge and understanding of your community environment and the local support and service agencies that are available to assist you.

Focus

We concentrate all of our efforts and expertise strictly on home hospice and palliative care.  We do not dilute the quality of our services by expanding into other endeavors.

Stability

Autumn Journey Hospice is a family of professionals who are passionate believers in the hospice concept. The caring, experienced professionals who join our team stay over the long term and add their experience to the rich pool of talent and skills we make available to our patients and their families.

Diversity

Autumn Journey Hospice utilizes a broad spectrum of specialists, including physicians and nurses specially trained in hospice care. With such diversity of experiences, we are better able to make sure our patients get the very best in palliative care and symptom management.

Experience and Expertise

Our Medical Director is a Doctor of Internal Medicine who has over 20 years of experience in private practice, including 15 years of hospice experience.  She has come to us after serving as the Medical Director of another local hospice agency.

Our Director of Clinical Services, who is a Registered Nurse and also has a B.S. Degree in Social Work, has over 24 years experience as a hospice case manager, palliative care consultant and in training nurses in hospice and palliative care procedures and techniques.

Add to this the fact that we only use highly experienced Registered Nurses as case managers in every phase of our hospice care services. Also consider that our social workers, chaplains and Certified Nurse Aides are also highly experienced in hospice environments.

Intimacy

Autumn Journey Hospice strives to provide levels of personal care that exceed industry averages in practically every category. For example, in most cases, our patient visits by nurses, certified nurse aides, social workers, volunteers and chaplains are more frequent than national or state averages.

Translation: our patients get more attention, better care and thus, a better chance at a higher quality of life. You may find that many of our hospice team members almost become part of your family, just as you become part of ours.

Flexibility

Autumn Journey Hospice has a “flat” organizational structure. In other words, there aren’t multiple layers of bureaucracy standing between the patient, the family, the caregivers and our company executive managers. That means we can be responsive, adaptive and creative in meeting the patient’s unique needs. It also means that you shouldn’t be surprised when our president calls to see how things are going.

Perhaps the greatest strength of our company lies in the fact that we have a passionate belief in the hospice concept and the benefits it provides to our clients. Each of our staff members has been intimately involved with hospice care for many years. Each has been privileged to share first hand the unique lessons, life experiences and gifts that hospice brings to its patients and their families.

The true value of Autumn Journey Hospice and our services is determined by our ability to provide:

  • compassion, comfort and support to our patients, their caregivers and families
  • an environment that recognizes and supports the patient’s right to live with dignity and make the decisions that affect his/her life
  • an environment that aggressively promotes the patient’s ability to live his/her life fully with the highest possible quality of life, regardless of diagnosis or prognosis
  • professionalism, integrity and excellence in all aspects of our organization
